Exercises for Belly Fat Reduction: Lose Your Fat Belly for Good

Are you ready to lose belly fat for good? If so you’ll want to know what the best exercises for belly fat reduction are.

No doubt you’re aware of the various abs-specific exercises that everyone talks about.

You should note that although these are great for toning your belly and defining your abs, they are not necessarily the best for burning belly fat. And that, my friend, is what you should be aiming to do with your workouts.

A combination of targeted abs exercises with a blast of fat-burning cardio is where you should be focusing your efforts. Let’s take a quick look at some of the most effective exercises to help you shift belly fat.

Crunches

crunch exercise

One of the most common forms of exercise for belly fat reduction is the crunch. This is where you lie on your back, knees shoulder width apart and your heels are flat on the floor.  With your hands placed behind your head, you lift up the top portion of your torso. What you’re actually doing (or should be doing) is using the strength of your stomach muscles to lift yourself up.

You can do crunches in several different ways.

One way is to use them to focus on the lower part of your stomach.  For these, you’ll once again need to lie down on your back, but this time lift your legs about 6 inches off the ground and cross your ankles in mid-air.  Hold this position whilst you proceed with your crunches.

This provides an extremely powerful belly workout for your lower abs. These crunches are effective as the lower abs region is the most problematic part of the stomach to tone – especially for us ladies. However, as great as these exercises are, if you only ever did crunches in an attempt to lose belly fat you’ll find yourself on the slow track to losing the fat. What you want to do is build on these crunches by adding a variety of exercises to your routine.

Pilates

Pilate exercise

Another form of exercise which is very good for targeting abdominal muscles is Pilates. Pilates-based belly exercises help strengthen your core. As a result not only will you have stronger abs, you’ll improve your overall posture, and balance and look leaner too. Why not find out about local Pilates classes in your area and give it a try.

Isometrics

Isometric exercises are great belly fat exercises that you can do any time, any place, anywhere. With these, you can either stand or sit and then simply contract your abdominal muscles for a count of 10.  Continue doing this as many times as you can throughout the day. You can even practice walking around whilst your muscles are contracted.

When you do these types of exercises it should feel as though you’re performing stomach crunches – except you’re not down on the ground doing them. Finally, when it comes to reducing belly fat, you need a good dose of aerobic activity.  Aerobic exercises are designed to condition your heart and lungs, but they also help to burn body fat much faster than if you were doing non-aerobic exercises. Things such as walking, swimming, jogging, or even belly dancing all contribute to an increase in your body’s fat-burning levels.

Unfortunately, you can’t decide which part of your body gets to burn fat. You’ll find you will lose all over body fat. One thing is for sure though, you’ll certainly see the size of your stomach shrink over time. Specific exercises for belly fat reduction are effective and will give you the body you’ve always desired.  You just need to make a conscious effort to combine your core abs work with regular aerobic activity for the best possible outcome.
